Education in Canberra

Universities

Canberra has excellent Universities, with The Australian National University (ANU) having recently been named as one of the leading 20 universities in the world.

Schools

Schools also cater for the diverse needs of the multicultural student population, some offering The International Baccalaureate (IB) from primary school up to college.

Government Schools

Canberra’s public schooling system has long set the national standard for providing high quality education. The ACT Government has made public education a major funding priority with significant levels of funding being directed to a number of key initiatives.  Significant funding in recent years has also allowed every school to upgrade classrooms, improve sporting and arts facilities as well as playgrounds.

Many families who have initially considered private schools have found the public school system offers such a high standard that they have chosen the public system.

Private Schools- better value in Canberra

You may be surprised to discover that not only does Canberra boast excellent private schools but also that the fees charged tend to be considerably lower  in the national capital compared to for example Sydney and Melbourne. To illustrate the difference in fees, we have provided links to the fee schedules for the prestigious private school Grammar in Canberra and Sydney.

National Education Officer

We are proud to have a qualified national teacher, Anne-Maree Turner, on our team.  If required, she will assist in placing your child/children at the appropriate schools, colleges or universities, and link your child/children according to their needs, such as child care, pre schools or preschool activities.
